Blaise is our beautiful mare that came to us rather shy, but after some sweet carrot time, began to trust us and show her true horsenality. She has perfect ground manners and is very forgiving. She can easily be led by children and is very understanding and tries hard to please.
Blaise is extremely smart (sometimes too smart for us) and she knows how to think for herself and is a real problem solver. She shows initiative with our cattle, is quiet with our dogs and loves the attention and company of our other horses. She doesn't like our pet pig too much, mostly because our pig tries to eat her carrots.
We use Blaise on the lead for the kids to learn and gain confidence. Whilst on the lead Blaise is placid, easy going and calm. When she is off lead, she thinks for herself and is extremely forward moving, which can be a little scary for our beginner children. Blaise has an amazing ability to think ahead of time and see a situation developing.
We have a strong bond with Blaise and this is shown in her care and attention that she provides to us daily.
Although a complete beginners horse on the ground (and confident intermediate in the saddle) she has taught our city slicker friends, including children, to ride comfortably on lead. Her strong understanding of what is expected of her shines through every time a child mounts or dismounts her, from either side. She even leans down to help the child on.
We could
not imagine our horsey life without Blaise and we look forward to many
more years of getting to know her and continually building on the
relationship we already have with her.
